William Wrubel is a US-born filmmaker, currently based in Germany. In 2018 he earned his BA from Bard College, where he studied Film & Electronic Arts under Kelly Reichardt, Peter Hutton and Peggy Ahwesh. His undergraduate thesis film won the Peter Hutton Award for Commitment to the Art of Filmmaking.
In 2024 he received his masters degree in narrative film from the Hochschule für bildende Künste (HFBK) Hamburg, supervised by Angela Schanelec. His debut feature film, “When We Saw Each Other More Often”, is currently in post-production.
He is a founding member of the film collective Geister Film.
